DCBA Meets Laiwu Delegation
On September 18th,2015, DCBA team led by the president Jerry Xu met Laiwu Delegation and the Vice Mayor of Laiwu, Mr. Ding Xiwen at Birmingham Country Club, Michigan. Laiwu is a Motor City famous for steeling and medical industries with 1.2 million population in Shandong Province, China.

The event was held in order to establish a corporate relationship between City of Laiwu, and Detroit Area, particulary in the automotive industry. The small-scale banquet brought esteemed government officals and business professionals from Laiwu, and Michigan. Special guests included Brian Connors, the Interntional Business Development Manager at Michigan Economic Debelopment Corporation; Alex DeCamp, Mortgage Community Development Manager at Talmer Bank and Trust and DCBA friends,Tom Watkins and Amy Foster.

DCBA US-CHINA Business Forum
The Detroit Chinese Business Association hosted the US-China Business Forum at Marriott Detroit Troy, Michigan on Monday September 21 to celebrate its Crystal Anniversary. DCBA has been serving as a bridge for US-CHINA culture and business for 20 years. 
The president of DCBA, Jerry Xu, and the mayor of City of Troy, Mr. Dane Slater gave welcome remarks. The city of Troy issued a Proclamation to celebrate DCBA Crystal Anniversary as an organization fostering relationships between Chinese and American businesses, and recognize the vital role DCBA has played in building mutually beneficial relationships between Chinese and metro Detroit businesses and government officials. Government delegations and many successful and respectful business leaders from various industries have attended the event.
The first keynote speaker is Mr. Jason Luo, the president and CEO of Key Safety Systems, the chairman of DCBA Advisory Board, and a global leader in the development of automotive safety-critical components. He is also the chairman of the DCBA advisory board. He shared his unique visions and insights on doing business in both China and the United States. 
Our second keynote speaker is Thilo Hanemann, the research director of Rhodium Group. His recent work focuses on the rise of emerging economies like China and evolution of China's outbound investment. His work also regularly supports policymakers formulating adequate policy responses. During the speech, he mentioned about the Chinese foreign direct investment boom in the U.S. and his 
data-driven analysis on how much Chinese investment is going to Michigan. 

Mr. Tony Vernaci is our third guest speaker. He is the vice president of global business development at Michigan Economic Development Corporation and helps attract substantial business, tourists and cultural events from China.

Following after is the panel discussion. We invited Mr. Jason Luo, the president and CEO of Key Safety Systems, Mr. Laurent Bresson, the president of Nexteer Automotive, Mr. Jason Forcier, the CEO of A123 Systems, and Mr. Thilo Hanemann, the research director of Rhodium Group as our panelists. Mr. Brian Connors, the Chinese business development manager at MEDC along with the Editor of DBusiness Magazine Mr. R.J. King are our panel moderators.
After the panel discussion, Mr. David Mullet, the senior partner at EY talked about the EY Entrepreneur of the Year programme, which is to honor and recognize the men and women who create the products, services and jobs that help our economy and communities grow. Two of our speakers at the event are in the list and Mr. Jason Luo is the winner this year.
At the end is the wine reception for networking. Everyone enjoyed the event and celebrated DCBA Crystal Anniversary together. Happy Birthday to DCBA!

DCBA 20th Golf Outing & Dinner Banquet
On Tuesday, September 22nd the DCBA hosted our 20th annual golf outing and dinner banquet. The event was held at the prestigious Indian woods country club in Orion Township. Many highly respected business and community leaders attended. Some came for the green, some came for the company, but no matter the reason all who were present had a good time. 
After eighteen rounds had been played all participants returned to the clubhouse for refreshments and socializing in anticipation of our evening banquet. 

As our banquet began the host for the evening Joshua Chiatovich came to the stage to introduce the president of the DCBA, Jerry Xu. Mr. Xu thanked his team and all DCBA sponsors and event attendees for making the day a success, and expressed his excitement for the future of the DCBA. 

Next up was Mr. Shusheng Wang of Miller Canfield. Mr. Wang spoke of the DCBA's newly elected advisory board (to which he belongs) and introduced all board members. Another two members - Matt Gibb from Oakland County and Jim Cambridge from Kerr Russell also showed on stage. 

The keynote speaker of the evening was L. Brooks Patterson, the executive for Oakland County. To introduce him, his deputy exeuctive, Matt Gibb came to the stage. Mr. Gibb spoke of the many beneficial programs Mr. Patterson has put in place in his time in office and his honor in working with him. He also expressed his eagerness to work with Chinese business leaders toward the shared prosperity of Oakland County and Michigan. 

As Mr. Patterson came to the stage he shared with the audience his vision for the economic future of Oakland County and his desire to attract more Chinese business and talent to our state. Of special note was the program Mr. Patterson spoke of that ensures most public schools in Oakland county offer a Mandarin language course to students, thus helping to further Michigan and China's special bond.

Before Dinner began Jerry Xu handed out the awards for the days golfing event. Coming in third was the DTE team, second was Kerr Russell, and winning the gold was the team from Baker Tilly! All winners received a beautiful award. With that dinner was served, and no doubt hungry from the day's activity, everyone dug in!

DCBA China Business Trip - Medical Main Street 
DCBA Board members will fly to China and present at Taizhou,China Medical City about the virtues of collaborations with Oakland County's Medical Main Street and FDI opportunities in the Health Care / Life Sciences in Michigan.
